The care centre contains a nursery and accommodation for the elderly. The concepts of the design revolve around the contrasts between the old and the new. I am adapting the ruins of an old brewery building (the Nelson Brewery in the Chatham Historic Dockyard) and treating it as a shell for a new complex. The spaces interpenetrate each other and create possibilities for interaction between different user groups.
